The TANGO2 Team at Texas Children’s Hospital is a dedicated group of physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals working to advance the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of TANGO2 Deficiency Disorder(TDD). Through clinical care, research, and collaboration, our goal is to improve outcomes and quality of life for individuals affected by TDD.

Leadership & Research

Christina Y. Miyake, MD, MS
Director, Cardiovascular Genetics Arrhythmia Program
Associate Professor, Baylor College of Medicine

Dr. Miyake is a pediatric electrophysiologist specializing in genetic arrhythmias. She was part of the team to first describe TDD, is a global expert, and serves as a consultant for TDD worldwide. She leads the TANGO2 Natural History Study, which aims to understand the course of the disease and find ways to better support patients.

Seema R. Lalani, MD
Professor, Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Baylor College of Medicine

Dr. Lalani is a clinical geneticist specializing in pediatric genetic disorders. She was one of the first researchers to describe TDD and continues to play a key role in characterizing its genetic and clinical presentation. Her work advances diagnosis, research, and family support initiatives.

Maria Jose Arredondo Sancristobal, MD
Natural History Study Coordinator, Texas Children’s Hospital

Dr. Arredondo coordinates the TANGO2 Natural History Study, managing patient recruitment, data collection, and logistics to ensure seamless collaboration between families, clinicians, and researchers.

Julissa Castro Lorenzo, MD

Dr. Castro supports the coordination of the TANGO2 Natural History Study, facilitating data collection and ensuring adherence to research protocols. Her work is essential in optimizing communication between the clinical team and study participants.

David Daniel Schwartz, PhD

Dr. Schwartz is a pediatric neuropsychologist whose expertise is in evaluating neurodevelopment, cognitive and psychological changes that can occur in TDD. He will work with patients to assess their current status and follow their course and outcomes over time. He can provide support for cognitive and behavioral challenges.
